Valerie Valardie

Teacher

From an early age, she enjoyed all forms of movement. She earned a Master’s Degree in Dance Arts from Mills College and danced and taught until 1983, when she discovered Iyengar Yoga. While remaining true to the methodology that continues to speak to her so vividly, she is also committed to finding fresh, new ways to engage in both her practice and her teaching.

Her favorite Sutra, I:39, embraces an individual’s uniqueness by allowing each student to find their preferred focus for meditation. Her own yoga practice is enriched by her passion for dancing, building temples, and sharing a vibrant life with her children and grandchildren. She encourages her students to integrate the richness of their own lives into their yoga journey, helping them discover practices that best suit their temperaments.
