Welcome to Bija Yoga
We’re so glad you’re here. To help create a safe and supportive environment for everyone, please keep these simple guidelines in mind:

Cleanliness & Props
-
Our studio prides itself on maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
-
We supply all the props you’ll need, including mats (though you’re welcome to bring your own).
-
Please return props neatly and with care, leaving them as you found them—or better.
-
We appreciate students arriving clean and fragrance-free; please avoid perfume, heavy jewelry, or nail polish that may mark floors and props.
-
Be mindful of metal buttons or sharp objects that could damage the equipment.
Health
-
Please let your teacher know if you have a medical condition, injury, or are recovering from illness.
-
Please inform the teacher if menstruating, pregnant, or going through menopause so the practice can be adjusted.
-
Teachers may consult with colleagues who specialize in areas such as scoliosis or restorative yoga if extra guidance is needed.
-
For ongoing conditions, please consult your physician before attending.
-
Out of care for others, kindly avoid class if you have the flu or any contagious illness.

Getting to class
-
The N Train stops right across the street from the studio.
-
Parking: Free 3-hour parking is available in Golden Gate Park (about 1.5 blocks away), along with nearby lots and street parking.
When You Arrive
-
Please aim to arrive on time and sign in before entering the practice space.
-
The front door is usually open, and there’s a lounge area where you can wait before class.
-
If you do arrive late, we kindly ask that you wait outside the practice hall until the opening chant is finished, so as not to disturb others.
Before & After Practice
-
Practice on an empty stomach: allow at least 3 hours after eating before class.
-
Avoid sipping water during practice to maintain the inner heat you are cultivating.
-
After class, wait about 30 minutes before eating to allow the effects of practice to settle.

Class Conduct
-
Please help us keep the space quiet; conversations belong in the front lounge.
-
Silence all cell phones, pagers, and digital devices before class.
-
Wear comfortable, modest clothing that allows free movement (shorts, leotards, or footless tights are best). Long baggy pants are not recommended.
-
Remove your shoes before entering; clean, bare feet are essential.
-
Try not to leave the room during meditation or śavāsana.
