Kathy Alef
Kathy Alef is a certified teacher of Iyengar Yoga. She has studied numerous times with yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar as well as his children at his institute in India. She is a staff member of the two year teacher training program sponsored by the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco. She also teaches weekly public classes for all levels of students including a specialized weekly class for those with back challenges.

Kathy's expertise in teaching clearly and precisely, coupled with her compassion, safely guides each student on their yogic journey.

Robin Attia
Robin is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher and has been teaching since 2001. She is a founder and co-owner of the Bija Yoga Studio which opened its doors in October 2002.

Robin's journey into the practice began with certified Iyengar teacher Kathy Alef, who guided and inspired Robin into a deeper understanding and appreciation for yoga and its discipline. In 2003, Robin graduated from the Advanced Studies Program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of SF.

She is fortunate to travel to Pune, India regularly to continue her studies with the Iyengar family. In S.F. she continues her studies with Senior Iyengar teacher Manouso Manos. Through daily dedicated practice, Robin has learned the value of the art and science of yoga. This is what she shares in her classes, coupled with enthusiasm, joy, clarity and integrity.

Chad Balch

Chad embarked on his yoga journey in 1988. He is a certified Iyengar yoga instructor and a graduate of the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco teacher training program, and has studied at the California Yoga Center and the Abode of Iyengar Yoga. He studied with the Iyengars in Pune, India in 1994.

Chad believes in yoga as a path of personal transformation, a regimen for holistic health maintenance, and a practice that we can bring to each moment of our daily lives.

Cynthia Bates

Cynthia Bates is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher and experienced nutrition coach. She works with people to inspire transformational healing experiences that lead to life change. She draws inspiration from her teachers, Manouso Manos and Victoria Austin, and B.K.S. Iyengar himself, with whom she had the honor of taking classes in India in 2010.

For Cynthia, food is like the yoga asana. It can be a nourishing practice and an antidote to clearing and healing emotional blocks which prevent us from shining in our true, unedited brilliance.

Yoga aims for complete awareness in whatever you do ~ B.K.S. Iyengar
