We ask that you:
Arrive a few minutes early to class. Those arriving late will not be admitted into class and leaving early is not advised. Never leave the class during meditation or savasana. And please sign in before every class.
Practice on an empty stomach. Allow at least three hours after eating before practicing yoga. We recommend that you refrain from sipping water during class in order to maintain the internal heat you are creating. Food may be taken 1/2 hour after completing asanas. Drink plenty of pure water at least 15 minutes after class.
Leave all cellular phones and pagers outside the asana room. If you have your phone with you, please keep it by the changing rooms on silent mode or off. We understand that emergency situations may arise; please speak to someone at the front desk if you are in an on-call situation.
Do not bring a beginner to a Level 2 or 3 class. We appreciate you introducing new students to Bija Yoga and have a dynamic level 1 class as well as workshops, specifically to introduce our class structure to newcomers.
Remove your shoes before entering. As well as honoring Eastern tradition you will help keep the floor you'll soon be practicing on clean.
Wear clothing that is easy to move in. Modest comfortable shorts or leotards and footless tights are suggested. Long baggy pants are not recommended and bare feet are essential.
On personal hygiene: Although we provide mats in class it's a good idea to purchase your own, available here. Having your own mat serves you energetically and hygienically. Please refrain from wearing perfume and heavy jewelry.
If you have any medical conditions or special physical needs including pregnancy, or are recovering from an illness, consult your physician before attending and let your teacher know as well.
